'The Voyage' Ep. 4: Vikings Make NFL's Greatest Comeback, Host Winter Whiteout & Painful Wild Card Loss

EAGAN, Minn. – This season's fourth and final episode of "The Voyage" is ripe with the highest of highs and lowest of lows.

An original series by Vikings Entertainment Network, "The Voyage" is the story of the 2022 Minnesota Vikings as told by the 2022 Minnesota Vikings.

Episode 4 kicks off with the Vikings "My Cause My Cleats" game in Week 13, during which cornerback Kris Boyd hosted Jordan, a young survivor of the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, and his family as special guests for the Vikings-Jets game.

Safety Camryn Bynum was mic'd up for the contest that ended with his game-sealing interception, and he gave "The Voyage" an exclusive look at his pre-game film notes on the Jets and potential opportunities for takeaways.

The episode covers division losses at Detroit and Green Bay in Weeks 14 and 17 but also highlights one of Minnesota's biggest games of the season: an overtime win against the Colts after the Vikings erased a 33-0 halftime deficit to record the biggest comeback victory in NFL history.

Re-live the difficult first half that included a blocked punt, fumble, interception and a canceled-out defensive touchdown by Chandon Sullivan. What could go wrong, did go wrong in those first 30 minutes. Cornerback Patrick Peterson gave his teammates a halftime message that, albeit brief, changed the tide: "All we need is five touchdowns."

You know the rest, Vikings fans.

K.J. Osborn put Minnesota on the board with touchdown No. 1 of the day, and the Vikings just kept chipping away – first earning an overtime opportunity and then walking away with a 39-36 win thanks to a Greg Joseph field goal.

Following the emotional victory, go inside Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center and get a peek at the offensive line's holiday tradition that honors late Vikings assistant coach Tony Sparano. Take that holiday spirit into the Week 16 contest against the Giants, in which the team wore white-on-white for the first time in a regular-season home game and shined in another down-to-the-wire game. The Christmas Eve game featured a recovered fumble by Brian Asamoah II, a blocked punt by Josh Metellus and a team-record, 61-yard field goal by Joseph for the hard-fought win.

Then, of course, "The Voyage" takes viewers through the season ending much quicker than any hoped, when Minnesota fell to the Giants in the Wild Card playoff game.

Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell, General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and players reflect on a wildly entertaining, overall successful season that leadership hopes to build off as they head into their second offseason at the helm.

Standout Quote(s):

"This team is always going to hold a special place in my heart. I'll remember every player; I'll remember every game. I will remember both the highs and lows that ultimately, hopefully, set the foundation moving forward here for a lot of success for a lot of years to come. But this team will always be very special to me."

'Producer's Take' by VEN Senior Producer of Original Content Nate Vaughn:

"It's always difficult to 'end' a series about the season when the season doesn't end the way everyone would like. But the roller-coaster ride this season provided such a great story to tell. The season was so rich with storylines, it was a producer's dream! This year we were able to cover Coach O'Connell's first season as a head coach, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah's first season as general manager, 11 one-score wins in some of the most improbable scenarios and showcase a team with a strong sense of togetherness.

"We're not on the team or in the locker room every day, but that's something you can sense when you're around the team enough, and that tight-knit team was something we wanted to make sure fans got a glimpse into this year.

"Our entire department (and many people beyond VEN) played such a large part in this project. Certainly, the videographers and editors capture the action and emotion on game days, but there's so much that goes into the planning, promotion and publishing behind the scenes that make all VEN productions happen.

"Finally, we appreciate Coach, Kwesi, the players and leadership here at the Vikings trusting us to tell their stories on and off the field. And just like Vikings fans, we can't wait to see what's in store next season."

A four-part miniseries, "The Voyage" is produced by Vaughn, Producer Alex Miller, Producer Ryan O'Neill and Feature Content Associate Avneet Gill.
