EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Tuesday signed cornerback Tre Hawkins ahead of closing the 2026 preseason at the Denver Broncos on Friday.

In a corresponding roster move, the Vikings waived cornerback Dwight McGlothern, Jr., with an injury designation.

Larry Hawkins III, who goes by Tre, was selected 209^th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Giants, with whom he spent his first two pro seasons. He played in all 17 games as a rookie, recording 35 tackles. In 2024, he logged his first career interception when he picked off New Orleans' Derek Carr — snapping New York's 11-game stretch without an interception.

Hawkins was waived during final roster cuts prior to the 2025 campaign and worked out with multiple teams before joining Washington's practice squad and signing a futures deal. He suffered a hamstring injury, however, and was waived by the Commanders.

Hawkins played two seasons at Old Dominion after transferring from Trinity Valley (2018-19). During his senior season for the Monarchs, he started all 12 games and ranked fourth on the team with 57 tackles. He added two interceptions, six pass breakups and three fumble recoveries, which tied for the Sun Belt lead.

At Old Dominion's Pro Day, Hawkins impressed with a time of 4.39 seconds in the 40-yard dash.

A Texas native, Hawkins played at Temple High School and racked up 60 tackles, two interceptions and seven pass breakups as a senior.

McGlothern initially joined Minnesota as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He has spent time on the practice squad and 53-man roster over the past two seasons, appearing in 15 games. McGlothern suffered an injury in Minnesota's second preseason game against Baltimore.
