EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Tuesday announced the signing of defensive lineman Sheldon Day to the 53-man roster from their practice squad.

Minnesota also added outside linebacker Austin Bryant to its practice squad.

In order to make room for Day on the 53-man roster, the Vikings waived receiver Trishton Jackson. Minnesota released receiver Dan Chisena from its practice squad to clear a spot for Bryant.

Day first joined Minnesota's practice squad in December 2022. He re-signed with the club in January and spent the offseason with the team but has not played in a game since 2021 with Cleveland.

Day has appeared in 67 regular-season games with Jacksonville (22 from 2016-17), San Francisco (34 from 2017-19), Indianapolis (four in 2020) and Cleveland (seven in 2021). He has totaled 76 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 11 quarterback hits, seven sacks and seven passes defensed.

The 29-year-old from Indianapolis overlapped with Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah with the 49ers, and he played in their three playoff games after the 2019 season, including Super Bowl LIV.

Bryant has appeared in 35 games (33 with Detroit and two with San Francisco), making six starts for the Lions from 2020-21. He recorded all 4.5 of his career sacks during the 2021 season with the Lions when he started five of 14 games played and set career highs in tackles (31), tackles for loss (five) and quarterback hits (six).

He played in two games (Week 1 at Pittsburgh and Week 5 against Dallas), totaling 36 defensive snaps for the 49ers this season.

The Georgia native played college football at Clemson and first entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick by the Lions in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Jackson has spent time on Minnesota's active roster and practice squad. He appeared in six games this season, memorably tying Minnesota's game at Atlanta at 21 when he caught a 2-point conversion pass from Joshua Dobbs.

Chisena returned to the Vikings in October as a member of the practice squad but has not played in a game this season. He appeared in 27 Vikings games from 2020-22, primarily on special teams.
