Vikings Sign Nick Vigil, Elevate Sean Mannion & T.J. Smith Before Saints Game

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Saturday announced they have signed linebacker Nick Vigil to the 53-man roster from their practice squad.

Minnesota (5-4) also announced the elevations of quarterback Sean Mannion and defensive lineman T.J. Smith.

Additionally, veteran defensive lineman Sheldon Day was re-signed to Minnesota's practice squad.

Vigil has been elevated each of the past two weeks, totaling 29 snaps on special teams in games at Green Bay and Atlanta.

He has started 37 of the 54 games he's played, including 12 of 16 for Minnesota in 2021.

Mannion will back up Joshua Dobbs, who made his Vikings debut last week in Atlanta. Dobbs relieved rookie Jaren Hall, who left last week's game with a concussion late in the first quarter. Hall is in concussion protocol and was ruled out Friday for Sunday's noon (CT) game against the Saints (5-4).

Mannion has appeared in 14 games with the Rams and Vikings since 2015 and last played Jan. 2, 2022. He spent the 2022 season with Seattle.

Smith was elevated from the practice squad for the first time in 2023 last week. He played 12 defensive snaps and recorded one tackle against the Falcons
