Vikings Announce Roster Moves to Get to Initial 53

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Tuesday announced multiple roster moves to narrow the team to the NFL-maximum of 53 players.

Minnesota released the following players:

Running back Ameer Abdullah

Long snapper Andrew DePaola

Guard Dakota Dozier

Defensive end Everson Griffen

Cornerback Tye Smith

Minnesota waived the following players:

Tackle Zack Bailey

Fullback Jake Bargas

Linebacker Tuf Borland

Quarterback Jake Browning

Tight end Zach Davidson

Safety Myles Dorn

Guard Kyle Hinton

Defensive end Hercules Mata'afa

Receiver Myron Mitchell

Cornerback Parry Nickerson

Receiver Whop Philyor

Running back A.J. Rose, Jr.

Defensive end Kenny Willekes

Tight end Shane Zylstra

The following players were waived with an injury designation:

Receiver Chad Beebe

Safety Luther Kirk

Guard Dru Samia

Quarterback Nate Stanley

The moves enabled the Vikings to go from 76 players to 53 by the NFL's deadline of 3 p.m. (CT).

Minnesota has the opportunity to make additional moves before and opening the 2021 season at Cincinnati on Sept. 12.
