EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday announced the signing of outside linebacker Quincy Roche to their practice squad.

Roche appeared in 17 games with three starts for the New York Giants from 2021-22, totaling 40 tackles, five tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

The 25-year-old was originally selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Roche, a native of Maryland, played college football at Temple University from 2017-19 before transferring to the University of Miami for 2020. He totaled 182 tackles, 54 tackles for loss, 30.5 sacks, seven passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and eight fumble recoveries in college.

In 2019, Roche was named American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 19 tackles for loss and 13 sacks.

Roche will take the spot vacated by outside linebacker Luiji Vilain, who on Tuesday agreed to terms with Carolina to join the Panthers 53-man squad.
