Prospect Profiles: RB Melvin Gordon

Summary: A prolific rusher for the Badgers, Gordon assaulted the record books during his time in Madison and is widely considered the top back in this year's class. In 2014, he led the nation in rushing touchdowns with 29, posted the second-most single-season rushing yards in FBS history with 2,587, briefly held the FBS single-game rushing record with 408 yards against Nebraska and won the Doak Walker Award (nation's best running back). In 2013, he led the nation in yards per carry at 7.8 and in 2012 he rushed for 216 yards in the Big 10 Championship Game.

Stacking Up: NFL Network's Mike Mayock has a 1st-round grade on Gordon and has him ranked No. 1 among all RBs, while fellow analyst Bucky Brooks identified Gordon as the most explosive runner in the class and also pointed to the Vikings, Chargers, Cardinals, Ravens and Cowboys as potential NFL fits.

Extra Point: Gordon's profile lists a NFL comparison, and the player is former Viking Robert Smith.
