Prospect Profiles: LB Shaq Thompson

shaq-pp-page.jpg

Summary: The 2014 Paul Hornung Award winner (awarded to nation's most versatile player), Thompson has a combination of abilities and traits that has some projecting him to be a safety and others projecting him to be a linebacker. With how often NFL defenses are in sub packages, Thompson and his position versatility could be a valuable piece to a defense. In 40 games at Washington, Thompson played both positions and even started on offense at running back.

Stacking up: NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock has Thompson listed as his third-rated safety, but Charles Davis doesn't have him as a top five player at either linebacker or safety and Daniel Jeremiah doesn't have him in his Top 50 player rankings.

Shaq's a slugger: Thompson was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 18th round of the 2012 MLB Draft.
