Prospect Profiles: LB Denzel Perryman

Summary: Perryman was a tackling machine for the Hurricanes, stacking up 218 total tackles in his final 26 games (148 solo). He was named first-team All-ACC after each of those seasons and was a finalist for the Butkus Award in 2014. As a senior, Perryman ranked 14th in solo tackles in FBS by averaging 6.1 tackles per game.

Stacking up: NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock ranked Perryman as his fifth-best prospect at linebacker (interior) after the combine, and recently moved him to fourth. Counterpart Bucky Brooks ranked Perryman as his second-best inside linebacker prospect. Some have speculated the reputed thumper may be best suited to play predominantly on run-likely plays on first and second downs.

Quote of note:"Perryman is a big hitter with outstanding instincts and awareness. Teams will ding him for his lack of height and explosive athleticism, but his game tape reveals a dominant player within the tackle-to-tackle box." — Bucky Brooks
