Prospect Profiles: LB Bud Dupree

Summary: Dupree played linebacker and defensive end for the Wildcats, offering an array of skills. His speed, explosiveness and size should help him transition to the next level. Dupree started three seasons and earned All-SEC honors in each one and had a consistent level of production with 6.5, 7.0 and 7.5 sacks in the final three seasons, despite being known to other teams as one of Kentucky's top defensive playmakers.

Stacking up: After the combine, NFL Media analyst Mike Mayock ranked Dupree as his fifth-best edge rusher in the field, and has since moved Dupree up to fourth in the category. Counterpart Bucky Brooks has Dupree as his third outside linebacker prospect.

Why Number 2?:According to his bio page with the University of Kentucky, Dupree selected jersey number 2 because "I'm trying to be number 1 but I am working like I am number 2." In the NFL, defensive lineman are allowed to wear jersey numbers 50-79 or 90-99 and linebackers are allowed to wear jerseys 40-59 and 90-99. The 40-49 range is being **added to linebackers this season** because a shortage of available numbers was beginning to occur.
