Profile

Summary:After redshirting in 2013, Qualls first took the field for Washington in 2014, playing in all 14 games after not seeing any action as a true freshman. Rob Rang of CBS Sports **compared Qualls to Texans defensive end Christian Covington** in "quickness and motor to help collapse the pocket from the interior."

According to CBS Sports, some of Qualls' strengths include the following: initial quickness and lateral agility; keeping his eye on the ball and showing good vision; and decent arm length and strength for tackling.

"Given his considerable bulk, Qualls offers some rather unique traits with quick feet and a high-revving motor," Rang said. "His lack of strength and inconsistent pad level are challenges that could keep him from starting at the next level, but he could prove a valuable disruptor in a rotational role."

Stacking up: NFL Media analyst Bucky Brooks listed Qualls as fifth-best among defensive tackles, while Mike Mayock did not include him in his top five. Chris Burke of Sports Illustrated ranked Qualls at No. 4 at his position in this draft class.

All-Star competitor: Qualls was one of 24 college football players selected for the 2017 State Farm All-Star Football Challenge that took place on Feb. 3. Qualls placed third in the "Be the Match Lineman Strength Challenge" with a time of 24.4 seconds.
