The new Vikings stadium project reached another milestone on October 16 with the first installation of precast concrete stadium.
MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota stadium construction project reached another milestone Thursday with the first installation of precast concrete stadium.
The concrete sections were made by Hanson Structural Precast of Maple Grove, Minn., and delivered to the downtown site. The precast method allows the concrete to be produced under controlled conditions in a reusable form and transferred to construction sites. Longer sections of concrete, helpful for a project of such scale, are able to be used through use of prestressing tendons.
The precast stadium installation is scheduled to continue until January 2016, with a break between completion of the lower bowl and upper bowl.
