New Vikings Stadium Hits New Milestone

The new Vikings stadium project reached another milestone on October 16 with the first installation of precast concrete stadium.

MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota stadium construction project reached another milestone Thursday with the first installation of precast concrete stadium.

The concrete sections were made by **Hanson Structural Precast** of Maple Grove, Minn., and delivered to the downtown site. The precast method allows the concrete to be produced under controlled conditions in a reusable form and transferred to construction sites. Longer sections of concrete, helpful for a project of such scale, are able to be used through use of prestressing tendons.

The precast stadium installation is scheduled to continue until January 2016, with a break between completion of the lower bowl and upper bowl.
