EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday acquired tight end Neal Johnson via waivers.
The addition of Johnson is pending a physical exam.
Johnson began his NFL career earlier this spring with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent.
After he was waived by the Rams, Johnson was with the New York Jets for a short stint this month. He played six offensive snaps and caught one pass for a gain of 6 when the Jets visited the Panthers on Aug. 17.
Hailing from Mesquite, Texas, Johnson played college football at Louisiana-Lafayette from 2019-23. He appeared in 59 games over his five-season career, totaling 101 receptions for 1,196 yards and 11 touchdowns.
In 2023, Johnson recorded career highs for receptions (30), receiving yards (383) and touchdowns (five) within one season.
