EAGAN, Minn. – Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer is once again supporting Minnesota student-athletes through academic scholarships, and the deadline is right around the corner.

The Mike Zimmer Foundation is accepting applications from high school seniors for Coach Zimmer's MVP Scholarship. The foundation will award two $10,000 (one-time, non-renewable) educational scholarships.

Applications must be submitted by April 15, 2021.

Recipients of the MVP Scholarship are chosen because of their dedication to academics, athletics and community. The following criteria must be met by student applicants:

Must be a senior graduating from a Minnesota high school in 2021.

Must have participated in a varsity sport in high school.

Must have good academic standing with a GPA of 2.75 or higher.

Must plan to attend an accredited college, university or community college.

Must have participated in an extracurricular activity or volunteered in the community.

Applicants are asked to complete a submission form with an accompanying essay (500-word maximum) that answers one of three provided questions.

Since 2016, the Mike Zimmer Foundation has awarded $100,000 to help students with the cost of their college educations.

The Mike Zimmer Foundation was founded in memory of Coach Zimmer's wife, Vikki, who passed away unexpectedly in 2009. The foundation's mission is to benefit the Twin Cities community and "keep Vikki's big heart and giving spirit alive."
