The NFL offseason is in the infancy stages, as things will soon get ramped up with the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine and free agency.
While it remains to be seen what moves the Vikings will make, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports said Minnesota will be integral in determining the NFL landscape this offseason.
La Canfora noted that what the Vikings decide to do at the quarterback spot will have a domino effect on other teams.
The Vikings came one game from being the first team inNFLhistory to play in their home stadium in aSuper Bowl, and the roster remains deep and young and talented … everywhere but at quarterback. Which of their three free-agent passers (Case Keenum,Sam Bradford,Teddy Bridgewater) do they retain, if any, and how do they do it (franchise/transition/extension)?
They have oodles of cap space and could possibly get more if Sharrif Floyd is unable to play again, but also haveAnthony Barr,Stefon DiggsandTrae Waynes* *all eligible for contract extensions, and GM Rick Spielman has done very well securing his own talent during their rebuild. Even if they are aggressive to extend those players now, there is ample room to make a big splash or two from outside the organization. Anytime a team has three pending free-agent quarterbacks who all have the wherewithal to be starters in 2018, it makes them a pivotal piece in the NFL's offseason puzzle for that alone.
Minnesota went 13-3 and won the NFC North in 2017. Keenum started 14 games while Bradford made a pair of starts. Bridgewater also saw action for the first time since suffering a serious leg injury in August of 2016.
Vikings send championship confetti to charitable Eagles fans
The Vikings recently made a classy gesture toward members of an opposing team.
ESPN writer Darren Rovell recently highlighted the move, which included sending championship confetti to fans of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Rovell explained the gesture:
A small group of charitable Philadelphia Eagles fans have received a gift by the Minnesota Vikings: confetti that fell at their stadium when the Eagles won Super Bowl LII.
The confetti was sent to roughly 24 Eagles fans who made donations to the Minnesota Vikings Foundation shortly after Philadelphia beat the Minnesota in the NFC Championship Game, team spokesman Jeff Anderson told ESPN.
Anderson said the foundation usually sends thank-you notes. The confetti was a last-minute idea.
"We just felt it would be a nice gesture to some classy fans," Anderson said.
The Eagles won Super Bowl LII after getting past the Vikings in the NFC title game.
