EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings (4-7) on Wednesday announced the signing of safety Kahlef Hailassie to their practice squad ahead of visiting the Seahawks (8-3) during Week 13.
Hailassie is returning to Minnesota, where he spent the 2025 offseason after signing in January.
After initially entering the NFL as an undrafted cornerback with Kansas City in 2023, Hailassie spent time with Cleveland in 2023 and 2024. He played in nine games and made one start in his first season with the Browns and appeared in one game on special teams last season.
The Vikings shifted Hailassie to safety during the offseason program, and he performed well in preseason games. He picked off Texans 2025 sixth-round pick Graham Mertz twice in the preseason opener for both teams.
Hailassie was waived during roster reductions but returned to Minnesota's practice squad before Jacksonville signed him to their 53-man roster in September. He did not appear in a game with the Jaguars before he was released last week.
