EAGAN, Minn. — Veterans are reporting for 2026 Vikings Training Camp and welcoming two new arrivals Tuesday, as the team signed three-time Pro Bowler Jamal Adams and running back Jordan Mims.

The "President" is joining the Purple.

Minnesota on Tuesday signed Adams, who will turn 31 in October. Adams (@PresidentMal on Instagram) was selected 6^th overall by the Jets in 2017 and made the Pro Bowl as a safety in three of his first four seasons (2018-20).

Adams converted to linebacker in 2025 for Las Vegas and made four starts in 17 games for the Raiders. The switch resulted in 45 tackles, including five for a loss, and one sack, boosting his latter total to 22.5.

A Lewisville, Texas native, Adams starred for three seasons at LSU before turning pro. He was a feared blitzer and strong tackler early in his NFL career on the Jets and Seahawks before injuries limited his performance. Across 70 starts from 2017-21, Adams had 443 tackles, including 43 for a loss, plus 21.5 sacks, 33 pass breakups, seven forced fumbles and four picks. He managed just 15 games from 2022-24.

New Vikings General Manager Nolan Teasley overlapped with Adams in Seattle for four seasons (2020-23) after the Seahawks acquired Adams from the Jets during the 2020 preseason.

Adams' resurgence last season (playing 40 percent of the defensive snaps) after limited stints the prior year on Tennessee and Detroit led to a Vikings tryout. The veteran enters an ILB room led by Blake Cashman and Eric Wilson. The former teamed with Adams on the Jets (2019) when he was a rookie.

Under Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores, the Vikings have experienced significant success when having safety Joshua Metellus start plays from numerous positions, including linebacker spots.

Minnesota additionally signed Mims, a former Fresno State standout on Tuesday.

Mims most recently spent the 2025 season on the Titans practice squad. He signed with the 49ers in May but was released June 10. He worked out with the Vikings thereafter as the team was winding down its offseason program.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by Buffalo in 2023, Mims was released during the Bills final roster cuts that year. He spent the 2024 and 2025 campaigns with New Orleans, both on practice squad and the active roster. Mims made his NFL debut for the Saints in October 2024; he played just two games that season but in 2024 appeared in 11 games. He recorded 20 carries for 70 rushing yards, as well as 12 catches for 71 receiving yards.

Mims was waived by New Orleans in May 2025 and signed with Tennessee.

Collegiately, Mims had a solid first two seasons for Fresno State before missing 2019 due to an injury. After returning to action in 2020, he broke out in 2021, finishing the season with 710 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, in addition to 25 catches for 324 yards and four TDs through the air. He garnered ample attention in Week 9 when he racked up 186 yards and two touchdowns to help hand San Diego State its first loss of the year. Mims also impressed in the New Mexico Bowl, rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns and hauling in five catches for 71 yards and a receiving score. He subsequently earned New Mexico Bowl Offensive MVP honors.

Mims then made the most of a bonus year of college in 2022, leading the Bulldogs with 261 carries for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns (second most rushing TDs in a season by a Fresno State player all-time) to earn First-Team All-Mountain West honors.

A California native, Mims grew up in East Palo Alto and attended Menlo-Atherton High School, where he teamed with former Vikings cornerback Mekhi Blackmon. Mims finished his high school career with 474 carries for 4,080 yards and 46 touchdowns — in addition to 50 catches for 687 receiving yards and five touchdowns.
