Hot Matchup: Adrian Peterson vs. Calvin Johnson

They don't ever lineup against one another, but twice annually they've led their team against the others and more times than not they provide the fireworks. That's why Sunday's meeting between Vikings RB Adrian Peterson and Lions WR Calvin Johnson is the subject of this week's Ticketmaster Hot Matchup.

Both Peterson and Johnson entered the NFL in 2007. Peterson as the No. 7 pick to the Vikings and Johnson as the No. 2 pick to the Lions. Since then, they've been lighting up scoreboards and filling up box scores at a higher rate than any other player at their position. Since 2007, no RB has more rushing attempts, yards or touchdowns than Peterson and no WR has more receiving yards or receiving touchdowns than Johnson.

Together, Peterson and Johnson have earned 11 Pro Bowl appearances and six First-Team All-Pro nods, and both have virtually rewritten their team and many parts of the NFL record books. They've also been a thorn in the side for the other's team, with Peterson rushing for over 1,300 yards and scoring 13 touchdowns in 13 games against the Lions and Johnson averaging over 5 receptions per game and scoring 9 touchdowns in 15 games against the Vikings.

The next installment of this NFC North personnel rivalry and of this hot matchup will occur on Sunday when the Vikings take on the Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
