Vikings Place Harrison Smith on Reserve/COVID-19 List

BALTIMORE — The Vikings have placed safety Harrison Smith on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Minnesota announced the roster move before the Vikings Week 9 road game against the Ravens.

Safety Myles Dorn, who was on the practice squad, has been elevated to the active roster for today's game.

Smith, who signed a multiyear contract extension earlier this year, started in all seven games so far this season. He has recorded a sack, forced fumble and three passes defensed.

Xavier Woods will start at one safety spot. Rookie Camryn Bynum could make his first NFL start today, as he is the only other safety to play on defense this season.

The Vikings also have Josh Metellus on the roster, but the second-year safety has only played on special teams this year. Metellus logged a little time on defense in 2020.

Dorn joined the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in the spring of 2020, but the former North Carolina standout missed his entire rookie season with an injury.
