EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings are trading Harrison Phillips to the Jets in exchange for draft capital, the team announced Wednesday.

Minnesota is sending the defensive tackle and a 2027 seventh-round pick to New York in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick and 2027 sixth-rounder. The move comes six days before NFL teams must finalize their final 53-man rosters.

Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah expressed his appreciation for Phillips' three seasons in Purple:

"Since joining us during [Head Coach Kevin O'Connell's] and my first free agency in Minnesota, Harrison Phillips has been an incredible leader and teammate whose work ethic, toughness and character helped shape our culture and set the standard. We are grateful for everything he gave to this organization and the impact he made on and off the field. On behalf of the Minnesota Vikings, I want to thank Harrison, his wife Shae and their entire family, and wish them nothing but the best moving forward."

Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell shared similar sentiments about Phillips' impact.

"Harrison has meant so much to our team and our locker room since his arrival in Minnesota three years ago," O'Connell said. "He brought leadership, professionalism and consistency, helping set a standard for the culture we wanted to create. As our 2023 Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, the impact he and Shae had in the community speaks for itself. I'm grateful for Harrison and the relationship we built, and he truly made us better as an organization on and off the field."

Phillips joined the Vikings in 2022 as a free agent after spending his first four pro seasons in Buffalo.

He never missed an outing during his Minnesota tenure, starting all 51 regular-season games and two playoff contests. He totaled 207 tackles, 6.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, seven passes defensed and two fumble recoveries over three seasons.

Phillips helped anchor a Vikings defense in 2024 that ranked No. 2 against the run, limiting opponents to an average of just 93.4 rushing yards per game. Minnesota ranked No. 5 in points allowed last season.

In addition to his on-field contributions, Phillips made a tremendous impact in the Twin Cities community across numerous causes and nonprofits. As O'Connell noted, the Vikings named him their Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year nominee in 2023, an honor he also received from the Bills in 2021. Phillips' foundation, Harrison’s Playmakers, is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children facing physical and intellectual challenges.
