Game Preview: Vikings at Seahawks

The Minnesota Vikings (8-8 in 2016) travel to the Pacific Northwest for a Preseason Week 2 matchup at the Seattle Seahawks (10-5-1 in 2016) on Friday, Aug. 18. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. CT at CenturyLink Field. The game will be simulcast live locally on FOX 9 and KFAN 100.3-FM. The simulcast team features Paul Allen and Pete Bercich in the booth with Greg Coleman and Ben Leber on the sideline.

The Vikings have earned a 13-1 (.928) preseason mark under Head Coach Mike Zimmer, who has led the club to two undefeated preseasons in his first three seasons at the helm. Last Thursday, the Vikings picked up their first preseason win of 2017 with a 17-10 defeat of the Bills. Rookie WRs Rodney Adams and Stacy Coley stood out in their NFL debuts, with Adams snagging his first touchdown (3 rec. 12 yards, 1 TD and 1 rush for 14 yards) and Coley leading the team in receiving yards (3 rec. 67 yards).

Seahawks Offensive Coordinator Darrell Bevell served in the same role for the Vikings from 2006-10.

Vikings DBs coach Jerry Gray coached the Seahawks DBs in 2010.

Seahawks K Blair Walsh was a member of the Vikings from 2012-16.

Seattle Assistant Special Teams Coach Heath Farwell played LB for the Vikings from 2005-10.


Vikings T Mike Remmers hails from Portland, Oregon. 

Seattle Seahawks Co-Director of Player Personnel Trent Kirchner graduated from St. John's University in Minnesota, where he played QB for 2 years. He interned with the Minnesota Twins in 1999.

Seahawks Research Analyst Brian Eayrs attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis where he played QB.

Seahawks Director of Health and Player Performance Sam Ramsden grew up in La Crescent, Minnesota.

Seattle Seahawks General Manager John Schneider is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

  • CB Terence Newman recorded five tackles and a 17-yard Interception on 11/6/11 vs. Seattle while he was a member of the Dallas Cowboys.
