Fran Tarkenton Signing New Book at MOA, Vikings Game

Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton guided victories and experienced defeats during his Hall of Fame career.

The third player ever selected by the Vikings in 1961 is now CEO of Tarkenton Companies. He has followed his playing career as a successful entrepreneur and media personality.

Over the years, Tarkenton learned "failure can be an awesomely powerful gift" and has incorporated those lessons into his new, unique and inspiring book, "The Power of Failure: Succeeding in the Age of Innovation."

The book shares some "never-before-told stories of the golden years of the NFL" and includes Tarkenton's personal and sometimes painful experiences with such legends as Howard Cosell, Coach Bud Grant, Frank Gifford and Roger Staubach.

Tarkenton has returned to the Twin Cities as part of Vikings Homecoming festivities, and will be signing his book from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday in the Macy's Court at Mall of America.

Tarkenton is scheduled to sound the Gjallarhorn before the Vikings host the Chargers Sunday and join 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Mick Tingelhoff on the field at halftime when Tingelhoff receives his Hall of Fame ring.

After the game, Tarkenton is scheduled to sign copies of his new book outside the Chisago County gate at TCF Bank Stadium.
