EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Monday announced the signing of cornerback Bryce Phillips.

Additionally, the team placed veteran Jamal Adams on Injured Reserve. Adams suffered a non-contact knee injury Saturday during Minnesota's preseason opener at the New York Giants.

An undrafted rookie out of San Diego State, Phillips initially joined Kansas City but was recently waived.

Phillips played 24 games for the Aztecs from 2024-25 and recorded 74 tackles, including five for losses, as well as two interceptions and 10 passes defended. Prior to that, Phillips spent two seasons (2022-23) at Tennessee State where he started 22 contests and posted 68 tackles with six TFLs, and 18 pass breakups. He also played a year at Santa Ana College.

The 6-foot, 195-pound corner is a native of Long Beach, California. His older brother, Clark Phillips III, was selected by Atlanta in the fourth round of the 2023 Draft.

Head Coach Kevin O'Connell told media Monday that testing confirmed Adams suffered a quad tendon tear.

"He'll have that procedure to have that fixed and then he's going to be with us all season long," O'Connell said. "I've talked a lot, both to him and his family about just his impact on this organization, his ability to help young players, his ability to be a real beacon of energy. And once, obviously, he's going to be focused on getting healthy and getting the initial early stages of his rehab going. But we're going to have him with us. You guys will see him around, see him out here, see him around the building because, you know, he's a Minnesota Viking now and we want to make sure that he knows how important he'll be to our players and team."
