EAGAN, Minn. — The Minnesota Vikings on Monday announced the team has exercised the fifth-year option on tackle Christian Darrisaw, extending his rookie contract through the 2025 season.

Darrisaw was selected by the Vikings in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. He has started 39 of the 41 games he has played during his first three seasons in Minnesota, including starting all 15 games he appeared in during the 2023 season, marking a single-season career high in starts.

A native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Darrisaw recorded the third-highest pass block grade (85.3) among all offensive linemen who played at least 50 percent of offensive snaps during the 2023 season, per Pro Football Focus. He concluded the 2022 season as the second-highest graded tackle according to PFF, trailing only 49ers tackle Trent Williams.

Darrisaw has drawn inspiration from Williams after growing up near Washington, D.C., where Williams played in 120 games from 2010-18 and made seven consecutive Pro Bowls.

Teams had until May 2, 2024, to utilize the fifth-year option on players selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
