EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Wednesday announced a trade agreement to acquire running back Cam Akers from the Rams.

The deal is pending Akers passing a physical exam.

Akers has started 15 of 30 regular-season games played for the Rams, totaling 1,443 yards and 10 touchdowns on 360 carries.

He's added 27 receptions for 250 yards and a touchdown in those contests.

Akers started in Week 1, totaling 29 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries. He was inactive last week.

A 2020 second-round pick out of Florida State, Akers played his first two pro seasons with Vikings Head Coach Kevin O'Connell as his offensive coordinator.

Akers missed all but one game of the 2021 regular season, but he returned in time to help the Rams win Super Bowl LVI as Los Angeles relied on a rotation at the position.

He started the final three games of that title run and totaled 172 yards on 67 carries and 76 yards on eight receptions that postseason.
