EAGAN, Minn. – The Vikings have signed two players to their practice squad, including a name new to the team.
Minnesota returned WR Trishton Jackson to the practice squad after waiving him Saturday and also added LB Calvin Munson. In a corresponding move, the Vikings released TE N'Keal Harry.
Originally signed by the Giants in 2017 as an undrafted free agent, Munson has also spent stints on the active and practice squad rosters of the Patriots and Dolphins. He spent time on both team's practice squads in 2023.
Munson has appeared in 51 games (seven starts) in his career, recording 89 tackles, including six for loss, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble.
Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores overlapped with Munson in New England during the 2018 season and in Miami during the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons.
Munson has crossed paths with a few current Vikings over his NFL journey, including sharing a Dolphins linebacker room with Andrew Van Ginkel from 2019-23.
Munson is a native of St. Charles, Missouri, where he played baseball and football for the Francis Howell Vikings. He collegiately played linebacker at San Diego State from 2013-16, earning First-Team All-Mountain West honors twice. Munson also was twice named San Diego State football's Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.
Jackson has been with the Vikings since signing in 2021 as an undrafted rookie. He has spent ample time on the practice squad in addition to stints on Minnesota's active roster last season and so far this season.
The Vikings signed Harry as a free agent in August 2023, and he spent time on the practice squad and active roster. This offseason, he transitioned from wide receiver to tight end and signed with the practice squad on Aug. 27.
