EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Thursday announced they have placed linebacker Blake Cashman and running back Ty Chandler on Injured Reserve.

Cashman left Minnesota's Week 1 game at Chicago on Monday after suffering a hamstring injury. Chandler suffered a knee injury but grinded through to finish the game. He fielded the Bears final kickoff and returned it from 7 yards deep in the end zone to get the clock inside the 2-minute warning to help ice the comeback victory.

The Vikings also announced they have signed receiver Tim Jones and tight end Nick Vannett from their practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Additionally, Minnesota announced the signings of cornerback Tyrek Funderburk and linebacker Sione Takitaki to the practice squad.

Funderburk, 24, was waived two weeks ago by the Buccaneers and became a free agent.

The former Richmond (2018-22) and Appalachian State (2023) standout suited up for 13 games, making two starts, with Tampa Bay as an undrafted rookie last year. He compiled 14 tackles, a forced fumble and a pass breakup across 162 defensive snaps. Additionally, he procured an interception in Week 1 of the preseason.

Funderburk ended his extensive college career on a high note, plucking four picks and returning two for touchdowns over 14 games in 2023 for the Mountaineers. With the Spiders, the North Carolina native nabbed seven interceptions in 41 games. He earned All-Conference recognition at the FBS and FCS levels.

Funderburk adds depth at cornerback a few days after Jeff Okudah entered the concussion protocol.

Takitaki, 30, is a former third-round draft pick by the Browns in 2019 (80th overall) out of BYU. He spent five seasons with Cleveland before signing with New England during 2024 free agency. Overall, Takitaki has logged 289 career tackles along with four sacks and two interceptions, including one for a touchdown in 2020.

Last year Takitaki started four of 11 games for the Patriots and posted 21 tackles across 194 snaps on defense and 112 on special teams. His top statistical campaign was 2022 when he collected 71 tackles in 12 games and eight starts. The Southern California native was released by New England in February.

Takitaki flashed from various alignments at BYU, tallying 237 tackles and 14.5 sacks across four seasons.
