The 1987 Vikings season was one of ups and downs and ups and downs.

A 2-0 start, a strike that led to replacement players for three games, a fiery return and a late-season stumble.

The important part was that Minnesota had a chance by being the fifth and final team to make the NFC Playoffs.

Few expected the Vikings to win a Wild Card game at New Orleans on Jan. 3, 1988, and even fewer tabbed Minnesota to defeat San Francisco in the Divisional round on Jan. 9, 1988.

Vikings players, however, learned how they were all in it together over the course of that season and made it to the NFC Championship.

We connected with Chris Doleman, Carl Lee, Scott Studwell and Henry Thomas to have them re-tell their experiences from that season.

Click above to read their collective story of joyous moments and a pain that still lingers.
