After Further Review: Blocks, A Stiff-Arm and Play Fake Key Vikings 2 Rush TDs vs. Cardinals

After Further Review is a deeper look at plays or stats after Vikings games…

The Vikings rushed 32 times for 195 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against the Cardinals.

A whopping 129 yards were gained on just five runs, including a 21-yard touchdown by Latavius Murray.

Kirk Cousins accounted for the other rushing score with a 7-yard run that featured nifty moves before and after the quarterback reached the end zone.

The plays were Minnesota's first two scores on the ground, as the Vikings capitalized against the NFL's worst-ranked team against the run.

Here's a look at both plays.

Q1, 5:41 remaining — Second-and-10 at the Arizona 21

After an incompletion on first down, the Vikings line up with 12 personnel (Murray and tight ends Kyle Rudolph and David Morgan). Adam Thielen is to the right of the formation, and Laquon Treadwell is to the left.

The Cardinals crowd the line of scrimmage, with eight of 11 defenders within a yard of the football. Two players begin four yards off the ball at linebacker, and Antoine Bethea is playing single-high safety at the 11.

The Vikings motion Morgan to the right and back to the left. He settles behind Rudolph before Treadwell motions toward Morgan and Rudolph. This will give Treadwell a great angle to block Budda Baker.

At the snap, the Vikings offensive line moves the Cardinals defensive line to Murray's right, Rudolph takes on Tre Boston, and Morgan blocks linebacker Josh Bynes.

Bené Benewikere, who initially was lined up across from Treadwell and is unblocked, appears to be indecisive on his path toward Murray, who has a great opening from Treadwell, Rudolph and Morgan, to pick up steam.

Bethea, listed at 5-foot-11 and 206 pounds, comes up from the deep safety spot but tries to go high in tackling the 6-3, 230-pound Murray, who uses a punishing stiff-arm to break the tackle and takes advantage of an open lane to the left corner of the end zone.

Q3, 6:42 remaining — Second-and-goal at the Arizona 7

The Vikings go with 11 personnel, bringing in C.J. Ham and line up the fullback near Cousins, who is in the shotgun.

Rudolph is in at tight end, lined up across from Bethea. Stefon Diggs is out to Rudolph's right, with a 1-on-1 against Patrick Peterson. Treadwell is wide to the left, and Thielen is inside of Treadwell.

Cousins fakes a handoff to Ham and reads that defensive end Benson Mayowa has completely committed to pursuit of the fullback. Cousins pulls back the football and zips to the right. He zig-zags to make the most of a nice block by Rudolph and reaches the end zone untouched.

It was Cousins' 14 rushing touchdown since 2015, which ranks third in the NFL in that time span. Cam Newton has 24, and Tyrod Taylor has 15.
