We are back from last week's break. I'm so appreciative of the North Shore visit our family made with great friends. The trip also lined up with catching the Duluth Airshow for the first time.
It was an incredible display by talented pilots, including by the Blue Angels.
Those who caught the June 23 Mailbag know that we introduced a good question and invited fans to share their favorite road trips. The idea came from this email, so we'll keep this edition on that theme and then return to more on-field questions next week as we approach training camp.

Going a different way with this question. I've been to more home games than I can count. However, I've never traveled to watch the Vikings play a road game. Green Bay and overseas are on my bucket list. We will exclude those for this drill.
Taking city, stadium, attractions, fan experience and any other factors you can think of, which of the 31 other teams (in your opinion) is a must-do for any Vikings fan looking to attend an away game?
Thanks as always,
— Roman in Grand Forks, North Dakota
I will start with a disclaimer that U.S. Bank Stadium is my favorite NFL venue (I can sincerely say that would likely be the case if I were employed by someone else). There's nothing quite like the atmosphere, and it can be fully experienced because the press box is open air and offers good sightlines. It's one thing to see the game. It's another to get to feel it.
I'll also say it's never lost on me how much I appreciate being included on the travel roster. I worked for teams for several years before that happened, and I never take the opportunity for granted.
One of the earliest road games I attended was the 2015 regular-season finale at Green Bay in which Minnesota prevailed to win the NFC North. That was my sixth season and the first time a team I worked for made the playoffs. That ended in crushing disappointment, but I feel like the experience also provided an understanding of some of the things that Vikings fans have endured over the years.
Roman's placement of Green Bay and an international game are deserving of people's bucket lists. I tell everyone who likes football that they should try to go to Lambeau Field at least once.
There's always overlap of fans during the Border Battles, but there's quite a contrast in experiences between U.S. Bank Stadium and Lambeau Field.

The opportunity to cover three games in London so far (and a fourth on the way) has been incredible. The press boxes Twickenham Stadium and Tottenham Stadium are in the seating area.
Most trips are very fast, so we don't always have a ton of time to explore.
One of the things I try to do is go for a run after the team arrives at the hotel, so I like places with good running weather. The hotel for the New York game last year was along the New Jersey side of the Hudson. The views of Manhattan during the Golden Hour were fantastic. Other favorite runs I've done were Philadelphia last preseason (yes, including the steps), Baltimore in 2021, Buffalo in 2019 preseason and Seattle in the 2023 preseason. I dimly attempted to run on the Las Vegas Strip during the 2022 preseason. Lot of stop-and-go.
Tennessee, Atlanta and Carolina usually include the opportunity to reconnect with friends from when I lived in those states, so I personally enjoy seeing those in the schedule rotation, especially when factoring in the food that will be consumed during the trip.
I think Cincinnati and Pittsburgh are probably a little underrated, as far as what those cities offer. The only Steelers game I've covered in Pittsburgh was in 2017.
The design of Arrowhead Stadium (plus readily available barbecue) makes Kansas City another unique experience, but the venue is so isolated, and the video board design doesn't have much square footage.
Denver's backdrop of the Rockies is quite incredible, too, and there is usually a fun atmosphere there.
I like SoFi Stadium quite a bit, as well, but I haven't spent much time in Los Angeles, which offers ample attractions to make a weekend of it. That Week 8 game at the Chargers on Thursday Night Football is worthy of fans consideration because then they could stay for the weekend (and I'm guessing there will be a lot of Purple in the stands).
I like the venue of Ford Field, but we usually stay pretty far from downtown, so the Detroit trip is quite a bit of bus riding (and usually never enough time for me to get to the Motown Museum). Rounding out the division, Soldier Field has quite a bit of history, and the location offers skyline and Lake Michigan views. The city offers great food, and the airports have easy transportation into downtown.
Here are a few thoughts shared by fans.

Best away game I've ever seen would be London 2024. Being from Southern California and a Vikings fan, I have only seen them play once at U.S. Bank Stadium and three times here in California, including San Diego and Los Angeles.
It was my favorite game because I got to see Jared Allen receive his award in London (induction to the London Games Ring of Honour). It was a glorious game, and we beat Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets.
I'm super excited that 2025 will be our year. Let's go Vikes.
— Michelle Brown Berry in Fontana, California
That was quite a day. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is excellent and really comes to life, especially when the crowd starts singing "Mr. Brightside" or Oasis.
Andrew Van Ginkel's pick six and Harrison Smith moving past 20 career sacks were particularly sweet, as well as the thrilling finish provided by Stephon Gilmore. The Vikings will have a chance to write another chapter of their history with Rodgers in Ireland this year.
Nashville. The city and Titans fans at the game are polite and welcoming (even after being soundly beaten by the Vikings) and the stadium is easy to get to. The game-day experience is patriotic and Americana from the pre-game events to halftime. The city and surrounding area have fun, historic and beautiful attractions.
— Jan Johnson
I consistently hear from fans (and other people who visit) that they've enjoyed their time in Nashville. Broadway looks a lot different than it did when I was growing up or even 15 years ago, and some of my favorite places no longer exist, but there are some hidden gems out of the Broadway fray.
I believe the past two regular-season trips to Nashville have been on Sept. 11 (2016) and with Salute to Service initiatives (2024). There were fitting tributes.
Most reading this are still a bit miffed with Tennessee because an on-field pyro fire before a game a few years ago led to a leaguewide shutdown of on-field pyro, and that ban included the fire from the dragon on the Vikings ship. The Titans will have a new stadium by the time 2032 rolls around for the next scheduled regular-season game, but Vikings fans could use this year's preseason contest as a chance to go for a game and stay for a party.

Buffalo Bills.
Small-town experience like Minneapolis!
— Chad Omdahl in Hatton, North Dakota (home of Dave Lee)
I'm admittedly not a huge wings guy, but I have really enjoyed snagging a beef on weck sandwich in Buffalo. Having watched a lot of Bills games during my youth (they were on TV a lot in Tennessee before the Titans came to town), it was special to me to visit that stadium, which has some great sightlines and a togetherness aspect offered by bowl seating. This is the venue's final season, so if fans just wanted to see a game and not have the added stress of a Vikings-related outcome, a trip to upstate New York for a Bills and whoever game could be a nice diversion.
My third Vikings game was in the DFW Metroplex against the perennially overrated Dallas — I'll be civil and call them the — Cowboys. It was 1998, and we were partying! Pun intended. Randy Moss was the rookie phenom. Thanksgiving Day, [Irving], Texas. WOW! The first TD on a flea flicker was hilarious. Robert Smith had a clear path to the end zone but lateraled the ball back to Randall Cunningham who pitched it to a WIDE-OPEN Moss for the TD.
Dallas countered by doubling Moss. Smith chewed up yardage on the ground and Carter was catching first downs. Then it happened! The Cowboys called single coverage on Moss. I saw it. I started screaming, "Throw the ball. He is open," before they snapped the ball. This agitated a lot of fans around me. Cunningham also saw it and chucked a perfect pitch for the TD.
Dallas went back to doubling Moss. The Vikings went back to Smith and Cris Carter. Then it happened again! I saw as they broke the huddle Moss had single coverage. Again, I stood up and started screaming. "HE IS OPEN, THROW HIM THE BALL." Needless to say, this really agitated the vicinity I was in. Then Cunningham hit Moss as he danced and tiptoed down the sidelines for TD 3.
Then my greatest moment as a Viking fan happened. The folks a few rows back started changing "go home Yankee, Go Home Yankee, GO HOME YANKEE!" I was in the aisle seat, 11th row. The chant's volume rose loud enough to be heard on the broadcast. I stepped into the aisle, raised my arms in victory/joy, and took a very theatrical bow.
I kept that ticket in my wallet until it faded to shreds.
— Robert B. MacLeod in Austin, Texas
That's certainly a great game to have attended and enjoy a bit of bragging rights. Glad the exchange was more humorous instead of turning hostile.
The only time I've been to Dallas for a game was the 2019 Sunday Night Football showdown that had some amazing catches by Stefon Diggs and Amari Cooper and one of the best pass breakups a linebacker can make to help seal the deal. That postgame locker room was bananas. That venue is quite a bit away from the downtowns of Dallas or Ft. Worth, but it does deliver on a large scale.
There's an abundance of great food throughout Texas, and I've always enjoyed friendliness on business or personal trips there.

Vikings Travel to Dublin & London in 2025 🇮🇪 🇬🇧
The Vikings are excited to compete in the 2025-26 NFL International Games as the designated visiting team!
Vikings at Steelers: Sunday, Sept. 28, Croke Park, Dublin
Vikings at Browns: Sunday, Oct. 5, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London
I have written a couple times before…first of which explaining that I had graduated from high school the year the Vikings came into being. Moving on. After moving into my townhouse in Las Vegas, I met my neighbor Sandy. She and I are both football fans. One evening while enjoying our evening cocktail, the subject of football came up. I mentioned that the Vikings had arranged a package going to Dublin. Well, that opened the door, and we decided that we should do it.
Our trip is booked. There is only one little glitch. I am the Vikings fan; Sandy is the Steelers fan. So, if you see two elderly women, each clad in their favorite team gear, be kind.
— Earleen in Las Vegas
Appreciate hearing from you again. This is so cool that you and Sandy have connected over your shared love for football and are going to be able to go on this excursion. I'll definitely be on the lookout. The Vikings will be tasked with giving you more to cheer for than the Steelers provide for Sandy.
In closing, I'll circle back to the categories that Roman mentioned and provide some of my favorites.
