2019 Senior Bowl Roster Release: South Defense

Here's a look at the defensive participants for the South team in the 70th Reese's Senior Bowl:

Defensive linemen

Isaiah Buggs (DT), Alabama: Buggs had 51 tackles in each of his two seasons with the Crimson Tide, but his tackles for loss went from 4.0 to 13.5, and his sacks went from 1.5 to 9.5 from 2017 to 2018.

Demarcus Christmas (DT), Florida State: Christmas totaled 105 tackles (48 solo), 10.5 TFL, 3.5 sacks and 13 pass breakups in 52 games.

Jaylon Ferguson (DE), Louisiana Tech: Ferguson led FBS with 1.35 sacks per game and ranked second with 2.0 tackles for loss per game in 2018. He had 26 TFL and 17.5 sacks in 2018 to bring his career totals to 66.5 TFL and 45 sacks in 51 games.

Carl Granderson (DE), Wyoming: Granderson totaled 77 of his 172 career tackles and 9.5 of his 17.5 sacks in 2017.

Kingsley Keke (DT), Texas A&M: Keke had 105 of his 150 career tackles and 13.5 of his 21 career TFL in the past two seasons. He had a career-best 7.0 sacks in 2018.

Jonathan Ledbetter (DE), Georgia: Ledbetter increased his tackles from 24 in 2016 to 38 in 2017 and 56 in 2018. He totaled 14.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

Daylon Mack (DT), Texas A&M: Mack totaled 108 tackles (52 solo), 27 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks and two pass breakups in 51 games.

Dontavius Russell (DT), Auburn: Russell totaled 153 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks in 53 games with the Tigers.

Montez Sweat (DE), Mississippi State: Sweat ranked 10th in FBS with .81 sacks per game in 2017 and sixth in the category with .88 per game in 2018. In 26 games with the Bulldogs, Sweat totaled 22 sacks and 29.5 tackles for loss.

Oshane Ximines (DE), Old Dominion: Ximines ranked fifth in FBS by averaging a sack per game (12) in 2018. He finished with 33 sacks, 51.5 tackles for loss, 11 forced fumbles and 12 pass breakups in 49 games.

Linebackers

Otaro Alaka (ILB), Texas A&M: Alaka had three consecutive seasons with at least 74 tackles and 9.0 or more for losses to cap his career with the Aggies.

Deshaun Davis (ILB), Auburn: Davis ranked 52nd in FBS with 8.9 tackles per game in 2018 when he had 15 of his 29 career tackles for loss.

Gerri Green (OLB), Mississippi State: Green totaled 161 tackles (59 solo), 20.5 TFL, 8.5 sacks, six pass breakups and three interceptions, including one he returned 84 yards for a touchdown, in 52 games.

Terrill Hanks (OLB), New Mexico State: Hanks ranked 10th in FBs with 11.2 tackles per game in 2018 and finished his career 101 or more in three consecutive seasons to total 396 in 46 games.

David Long (ILB), West Virginia: Long ranked seventh in FBS in solo tackles per game (6.3) and tackles for loss per game (1.6) in 2018.

Bobby Okereke (ILB), Stanford: Okereke totaled 96 tackles and 7.5 for loss in each of the past two seasons. He also had three consecutive seasons with at least 3.0 sacks.

Defensive backs

Johnathan Abram (S), Mississippi State: In two seasons with the Bulldogs, Abram totaled 170 tackles (14 for loss), 5.0 sacks and 10 pass breakups.

Mike Edwards (S), Kentucky: Edwards totaled 318 tackles (20.5 for loss), 23 pass breakups and 10 interceptions in 51 games for the Wildcats.

Mark Fields (CB), Clemson: Fields totaled 42 tackles (33 solo), 5.0 TFL, one sack, 11 pass breakups and an interception in 46 games.

Isaiah Johnson (CB), Houston: Johnson had 21 catches for 208 yards in his first two seasons with the Cougars before switching sides of the ball. He totaled 115 tackles, 14 pass breakups and four interceptions from 2017-18.

Jaquan Johnson (S), Miami: In four seasons with the Hurricanes, Johnson totaled 252 tackles (7.5 for loss), seven pass breakups and eight interceptions.

Lonnie Johnson (CB), Kentucky: In two seasons with the Wildcats, Johnson had 64 tackles (3.0 for loss), nine pass breakups and an interception.

Jimmy Moreland (CB), James Madison: Moreland returned four of his 15 career interceptions for touchdowns. He added 161 tackles (96 solo), 10 TFL, 2.0 sacks and 33 pass breakups.

Sheldrick Redwine (CB), Miami: Redwine totaled 164 tackles (6.0 for loss), 3.5 sacks, 10 pass breakups and five interceptions in 49 games with the Hurricanes.

Juan Thornhill (S), Virginia: Thornhill ranked third in FBS with six interceptions in 2018, boosting his career total to 13. He also increased his tackles from 45 in 2016 to 63 in 2017 and 98 in 2018 and finished his career with 26 pass breakups in 46 games.

Darius West (S), Kentucky: West bounced back from missing all but two games in 2016 to record 86 tackles in each of the past two seasons. He had career bests of six pass breakups and three interceptions in 2018.

Rock Ya-Sin (CB), Temple: Ya-Sin transferred to Temple before his senior season after opening at Presbyterian College, which moved from FCS to Division II. He had 47 tackles (2.0 for loss) and two interceptions in his lone season in FBS.

Specialists

Jake Bailey (P), Stanford: Bailey finished in the top 25 in FBS in gross punting in three consecutive seasons. He was 24th in 2016 with an average of 43.5, seventh in 2017 with an average of 45.4 and 20th in 2018 with an average of 44.1.

Nick Moore (LS), Georgia: Moore, who spent four years in the minor leagues after the Boston Red Sox drafted him 30th overall in 2011, played in 25 games for the Bulldogs.

Cole Tracy (K), LSU: A graduate transfer from Assumption College, Tracy made 29 of 33 field goals (87.9 percent) and all 42 extra points in his lone season for the Tigers. In 2017, Tracy led Division II with 27 field goals and a field goal percentage of 93.1 (27-for-29).
