EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – The Minnesota Vikings on Saturday announced the following roster moves:
SIGNED TO ACTIVE ROSTER FROM PRACTICE SQUAD:
PLAYER POS. EXP. COLLEGE
Cornelius Edison................ C............... 2.................................. Portland State
PLACED ON RESERVE/INJURED:
PLAYER POS. EXP. COLLEGE
Kevin McDermott................ LS............... 5.................................. UCLA
Edison (6-foot-3, 312 pounds) joins the Vikings active roster after spending most of the season on the team's practice squad. Edison, who was originally signed to the Vikings practice squad on Sept. 4, was elevated to the Vikings 53-man roster on Oct. 28 prior to the game in London against the Cleveland Browns. The Portland State alum was inactive for the game vs. Cleveland and was released on Oct. 30 and signed back to the Vikings practice squad on Nov. 1.
The second-year pro entered the NFL in 2015 as an undrafted free agent with the Chicago Bears. After spending time on the Bears active roster in 2016, Edison spent the 2017 offseason and preseason with the Atlanta Falcons before being released as part of final roster cuts.
McDermott suffered a dislocated shoulder during a Vikings punt at Green Bay in Week 16. Tight end David Morgan filled in admirably for McDermott in the second half last week.
The Vikings signed LS Jeff Overbaugh, an Alaska native, and placed left guard/backup center Nick Easton on injured reserve earlier this week.
