FIRST AWARD RECIPIENT TO BE RECOGNIZED BY VIKINGS YOUTH FOOTBALL MANAGER E.J. HENDERSON THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 9
Eden Prairie, MN (October 8, 2014) – *The Minnesota Vikings and Youth Football ManagerE.J. Henderson* are proud to announce a new initiative titled the "Community Captain Award." Designed to recognize outstanding varsity high school football student-athletes throughout the state, the Vikings will honor one student who demonstrates strong leadership on and off the field each week during the high school football season.
Launched on Vikings.com on Monday, September 29, the program allows the public to submit nominees who excel in the classroom, on the field and in the community. Selected by the Vikings, winners will receive a plaque, a custom game ball and a $1,000 donation from the Vikings to be directed toward a community initiative selected by the student-athlete. Winners will also have an opportunity to attend the Vikings-Jets game on Sunday, December 7, and will be honored in-game.
The Vikings will recognize the first award winner – Breck High School Junior Ramaud Chiaokhiao-Bowman – in front of his teammates and coaches this Thursday, October 9, at Breck School (123 Ottawa Avenue N., Golden Valley, MN 55422) at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Chiaokhiao-Bowman, who lives in South Minneapolis, boasts a 3.6 GPA and is the leading wide receiver for the football team. He also plays drums in the high school band and volunteers at the Oasis of Love Child Development Center of Minneapolis, where he tutors, mentors and helps children stay physically active. Chiaokhiao-Bowman has chosen to direct his $1,000 award to Oasis.

Community Captain Nominee Requirements
· 3.0 GPA or Higher
· Varsity Football Player
· Voluntary Community Service Record (ex. nursing home/hospital visits, involvement with local YMCA/Boys and Girls Club, food drives, Toys for Tots, mission trips, etc.)
Award Winners Receive
· "Community Captain" Plaque
· Custom Vikings Game Ball
· $1,000 Donation to Student-Athlete's Chosen Community Initiative
· Honored during the Vikings-Jets Game on Dec. 7
