Vikings Check-in Day in 10 Quotes

General Manager Rick Spielman

"I know there's a lot of high expectations on this football team. I know Coach Zimmer will have our football team focused on what we need to get done now. All that is coming in the future, but right now we have to focus on what we have to get done at training camp. You can say all that hype and buildup, but if we don't get accomplished what we need to get accomplished down here at training camp. Every season is a new season, you can't predict injuries and the ball bouncing here or there but I know Coach Zimmer is going to have this football team as prepared as any football team to head into this season. That all starts with our main focus of what we need to get done at training camp first."

Head Coach Mike Zimmer

"I think when you have a lot of good people, guys that work hard, all the things I've been saying about this team, I think it's easy. Obviously, the expectation level is much higher; I get that, but the expectation isn't any higher for me than what it was the first year, second year or what it is this year. I think this team understands hard work. I think they understand the things we have to do to get there, and there are so many good teams in this league. People are saying we're not even in the top half of the NFC. So, we just need to go out and play and perform well on Sundays and work together and play as a team. The one thing about football, when you've got 22 guys on the field, there are a lot of mistakes being made, and the team that usually makes the least mistakes usually wins. So, that's really what we want to try to accomplish."

G Alex Boone

"I feel the love everywhere and that's what's so fun about this. As soon as I got in there, I could tell the excitement of the guys. They told me they weren't happy with last year and we need to go farther and I agreed. This is what we play this game for, to move on and play the next week. I think we're all on the same page and we're all going to do what we can to get there."

QB Teddy Bridgewater

"I'm very excited. We've added some pieces, we've gotten guys healthy and the guys have another year in the system. So, you think about some of the things we were able to do last year and how we want to build off last year. Last year, we just got a taste of what it feels like to be a playoff team. Hopefully we can take that next step to be a complete football team. So, I'm excited about the guys we've added, and besides that, we have Adrian back. We added (Laquon) Treadwell in the draft, then we added some pieces on defense also. The coaching staff, management, they're doing a great job putting together a special football team."

LB Chad Greenway

"I'm just trying to enjoy every day, honestly. I've talked to a lot of guys, talked to Jim Kleinsasser yesterday, guys who have kind of gone through situations like this and knowing that the career is winding down. I've certainly enjoyed every minute of it and want to enjoy this year but it's not about enjoying it. It's only fun when you're winning. I'm here to play football and play as well as I can play and put my best foot forward. I thought I built a nice season last year with the change in roles that I had. I want to continue to push that way and be a leader and lean on my experience but also you've got to play and play well. That's what I'm here focused on. Yes, it's a little bit nostalgic for things, could be the last time. It's really about coming down here and playing good football and helping this team win games."

DE Everson Griffen

"Of course we could be the best defense. We have all the pieces to the puzzle, but it's going to take a grind. It's going to take each player taking the next step and each player to count on one another to do the right thing on each and every play. We have to be disciplined in our defense and just dominate on every phase. Be accountable for your job, win your individual battles and go out there and just dominate. That's the whole goal, work on your craft and now it's time to show your craft to the world."

RB Adrian Peterson

"Just being great. Trying to accomplish that ultimate goal of winning a championship keeps me motivated. Of course, the talk about being 31, that's something that's deep down inside, that I think in my mind that I'll prove people wrong. The other thing that has me motivated, and I don't know if this is going to be Chad's (Greenway) last year, but we've been on this journey together for a long time so if it is, to top it off with a championship would be awesome for him. There are a lot of things that keep me motivated to come out here and go through training camp and get ready for an amazing season."

S Harrison Smith

"It was important to me, just so I could focus on playing, which I think would have happened anyway; just play football when the time comes. But obviously, knowing that I'm wanted here and they want me to make a big impact here and continue to grow this defense and this team and compete for championships, that is what I want to be a part of."

WR Adam Thielen

"It's a lot different being here for Vikings training camp. I had a flashback coming in here, first day and my parents dropping me off with all my stuff for college."

K Blair Walsh

"These fans are great. I think we have some of the best fans in the NFL. They're always out here supporting us regardless of what our record was the year before. I think that says a lot about them."
