One is responsible for finding open receivers and throwing passes to them. The other is responsible for making sure receivers don't get open and intercepting or knocking down any passes that are thrown to them. Those two players, both taken early in the 1st round of the 2015 NFL Draft, are Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston and Vikings CB Trae Waynes. They are the subject of this week's Ticketmaster Hot Matchup.
Waynes, taken 11th overall by the Vikings, was the fasted timed CB at this year's Combine and joins Terence Newman, Harrison Smith and Xavier Rhodes as 1st-round picks in the Vikings secondary. He was experienced and productive in his time at Michigan State, compiling over 100 tackles, 13 pass breakups and six interceptions in 36 games played.
Winston, taken No. 1 overall by Tampa Bay, was one of the highest-profile college players in the country over the past two seasons, taking home Heisman Trophy honors in 2013 and helping Florida State win the BCS National title in 2014. At Florida State, Winston completed 66.0% of his passes for nearly 8,000 yards and 65 touchdowns.
