Stats that stood out: 2015 Preseason

73.2 completion percentage — Vikings passers Teddy Bridgewater, Shaun Hill, Taylor Heinicke and (waived/injured) Mike Kafka combined for a completion percentage of 73.2 this preseason. It was the second-highest of any team behind Kansas City (74.1). The previous high since 2000 was 72.9 percent by Dallas in 2007. Vikings opponents completed 53.0 percent of their passes this preseason.

162.8 net passing yards allowed per game — In five preseason games, the Vikings allowed a net passing yardage of 814, or an average net of 162.8. The stinginess of that number is due in part to the Vikings recording 12 sacks for losses of 86 yards.

Vikings passers had an average net of 218.8 yards per game.

Minus-three turnover ratio —From the "department of things to remedy between now and the regular season," the Vikings have room to improve in turnover ratio. Vikings players fumbled seven times and lost six during the preseason a year after losing two in all of 2014. Minnesota's quarterbacks were intercepted three times for a total of nine giveaways.

The Vikings defense recovered two fumbles and four interceptions for a total of six takeaways.

Together, that is a turnover ratio of minus three, and a step backward from the 2014 regular season when the Vikings had a ratio of minus-1. Of the 12 playoff teams from a season ago, only Indianapolis had a negative ratio did not finish among the top half of teams in this category. The Colts were tied for 22 with a minus-5 ratio.
