New 'Northern Battle Brew' On Tap for Vikings-Packers Game

MINNEAPOLIS — The 114th Border Battle between the Vikings and Packers will take on a new flavor on Sunday.

Vikings fans attending the game will have the option to purchase the "Northern Battle Brew" for the first time.

The "Northern Battle Brew" was crafted by the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company for MillerCoors was first sampled by fans during Vikings DraftFest. After trying the beer, fans were able to pick from a list of names or submit one, and the name "Northern Battle Brew" was selected. 

The beer has a deep amber color and malty aroma from a special blend of malts, including Pale Ale malt, Caramel malt, Carapils malt, and a blend of 2-row and 6-row malts. To balance the malty sweetness, a variety of Pacific Northwest hops: Cascade, Nugget and Willamette. The beer is fermented with a true ale yeast strain, adding a characteristic fruity aroma. It has an ABV of 5.25 percent and an IBU of 26.0.

The beer will be featured at the Corner Bar, the first bar on the right inside the Legacy Gate.
