This season I was blessed to be sent out to Japan to represent the MVC. Camp Zama & ProTour Productions brought us out to perform at their super bowl party! On my trip was Kristin from the Cardinals, Whitney from the Titans, Tina from the Bengals and me! Throughout the week all of us girls became so close and I will cherish each of their friendships. Before the trip started we all would message each day and talk about different things we were excited for! One thing we had not thought of before arriving was the super bowl time in Japan was actually at 7:30 am on Monday morning! We ate french toast with the different military personnel while watching the Superbowl (this was no problem for me because I LOVE french toast :) )
While we were in Japan we also did quite a few other appearances throughout Tokyo. We performed and did an interview with the official NFL Japan show. We also did an interview for NFL Japan.com. Everyone was so excited to have us and we were feeling so lucky to have the opportunity. I found a super fan at the Official NFL shop in Tokyo! And of course we needed to take a photo! He was decked out in Vikings garb, he even rode a purple bike over to the shop! There were quite a few fans repping their purple and gold throughout Japan and I made sure to connect with each one and thank them!
On top of teaching numerous kids cheer clinics on base, one of the days we got to teach an adults clinic. It was so cool to bring the NFL style to Japan and the women were so fun to work with! We did a raffle at the clinic and gave one lucky girl the full NFL makeover. We did this on stage and explained different beauty tips. We also did a full length "Why Did You Come to Japan" specialty show and had the cameras following us around while we visited Tokyo, sightseeing and shopping, doing appearances and trying different Japanese treats! The fashion in Tokyo was so fun and different!
One of the days we spent traveling around the base visiting different groups. The troops really got into the spirit and I loved hearing their stories about their families and their experiences on base. We got to have a meal with the two commanders of the base- both women! They were so inspiring and so supportive and thankful of us coming. They were two truly amazing women!
On Monday morning it was time for the main event! We performed a few dances before the Superbowl and during halftime. This was so fun!! It was also exciting to represent our special MVC style of dancing. Every team does things a little different and it was fun to talk about and show off our different styles!
Everyone in Japan was so welcoming and I was so sad to leave after our week was over. I hope to visit my new found friends again soon!
Until next time Vikes fans!! SKOL!!!!!
