This past month I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to Fairbanks, Alaska on a Military Super Bowl Tour with ProTour Productions. The trip was more amazing than I could have ever imagined. The people I met, the relationships I built, and experiences I encountered were truly life changing.
Joining me on tour was Titans Cheerleader, Anne; Rams Cheerleader, Sarah; and Redskins Cheerleader, Masako. The Rams Mascot, Rampage; Bears Mascot, Staley; and Atlanta Falcons' players Mike Johnson and Joe Hawley were also on tour with us. Together we formed Team Alaska and I couldn't think of a better team to spend the week with. They were truly all the best friends I never knew I had.
Over the course of the week we visited 4 different military bases; Fort Greely, Clear Air Force Station, Eielson Air Force Base, and Fort Wainwright. We spent our days meeting incredible service men and women and learning more about their lives and their work. It was amazing to see the sacrifices these people are making every day for us. We also spent quite a bit of time with their families, as they have also sacrificed so much to be there. We did numerous classroom visits, cheer clinics, and even performed at one of their pep rallies.
One of my favorite days was Super Bowl Sunday. We started the day out by having brunch with some of the service men and women at Eielson. It was so nice to sit down and chat with them to hear their stories. Also- I'm happy to report, Eielson had TONS of Vikes fans. I think I even converted a Packer fan to our side. J After brunch, we went to a restaurant on base to watch the game. At the restaurant we ran into a lot of families we had met earlier in the week. It was so much fun catching up with them, watching the game, and helping out with their raffle.
Overall, the week was nothing short of amazing and has touched my life in more than one way. I am so thankful to ProTour Productions, Armed Forces Entertainment, and of course the Minnesota Vikings for giving me this amazing opportunity and giving me memories I can hold onto forever.
