EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Former Vikings linebacker E.J. Henderson announced the selection of a future linebacker, Eric Kendricks out of UCLA, on Friday night in Chicago during the second round of the NFL Draft.
Kendricks became the second former Bruins linebacker the Vikings have selected in as many years, joining Anthony Barr, who was selected ninth overall in 2014. Click here for more info on Kendricks.
Henderson was drafted in the second round in the 2003 NFL Draft and was the Vikings representative as past stars announced their team's second-round selections.
The role of guest announcers will continue Saturday, when the Vikings are scheduled to have their fourth-round pick announced by Lesley Singer, labor foreman for Mortenson Construction, which is leading the building of the new Vikings stadium. The stadium is more than 50 percent complete and on schedule to open in July 2016. Singer is scheduled to be introduced by Vikings Hall of Famer Randall McDaniel before the announcement.
The announcers of the remaining Vikings picks (scheduled to be a fifth and two seventh-rounders) will be selected from guests at the New Stadium Preview Center, which will have an open house from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The Preview Center is on the southeast corner of the future stadium.
Vikings receiver Jarius Wright (1 to 3 p.m.), former linebacker Matt Blair (3 to 5 p.m.) and Voice of the Vikings Paul Allen are scheduled to attend the open house.
