5 Things to Know About New Vikings QB Trevor Siemian

EAGAN, Minn. — The Vikings on Monday announced the acquisition of quarterback Trevor Siemian in a trade with the Denver Broncos.

Siemian spent the past three seasons with the Broncos after being drafted in the seventh round in 2015. He is a former quarterback at Northwestern University.

Here are five things to know about the newest Minnesota Viking:

1. Career stats 

Siemian has appeared in 26 total games and has completed 495 of 835 passes (59.3 percent). He has thrown for 30 touchdowns with 24 interceptions and has a passer rating of 79.9.

2. Fresh experience

Siemian has 24 total starts and is 13-11 as a starter. He started 14 games for Denver in 2015 and went 8-6. He was the starter for 10 games this past season and was 5-5.

3. Familiar faces

Siemian will know a few faces around Minnesota's new facility in Eagan. Vikings quarterback Kyle Sloter spent the 2017 preseason and part of the offseason with Denver, and Vikings tight ends coach Clancy Barone was on the Broncos staff in 2014 and 2015. Siemian also was college teammates with Vikings defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo for three seasons.

4. A college captain

Siemian was a co-captain of the Northwestern football team as a senior. He appeared in 44 career games and threw for 5,931 yards with 27 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.

5. Sunshine State roots

The 26-year-old Siemian is a Florida native who attended Olympia High School, which is just outside of Orlando. Siemian earned All-Central Florida honors in 2009 and was a second-team selection in 2008. He also thrived on the baseball diamond as a shortstop, third baseman and outfielder.
