BIOGRAPHY

Andrew Janocko completed his 3rd season with the Vikings and 5th in the NFL in 2017. This season, Janocko took on the duties of Assistant Offensive Line coach working with veteran coach Tony Sparano. The previous 2 seasons Janocko spent with the Vikings he served as an Offensive Assistant working in various capacities with the offensive coaching staff including working closely with the tight ends in 2016 when Pat Shurmur was their position coach prior to taking over as Offensive Coordinator.

In 2016, Janocko helped the Vikings offense that had to navigate numerous injuries along the offensive line but benefitted from newly-acquired QB Sam Bradford as he set the NFL record for completion percentage in a season at 71.6%. Janocko worked with the Vikings TEs and the group was led by veteran Kyle Rudolph, who set the Vikings record for receptions in a season by a TE with 83 and tied the club record for catches in a game by a TE with 11 vs. Chicago (1/1/17) in the regular season finale.

In addition to his work on the offensive game plan throughout the week, Janocko also conducts scout team meetings and coaches the scout team regularly during practices. His preparations with the scout team served the Vikings 1st-team offensive and defensive units daily throughout the 2015 season. As part of the offensive coaching staff in 2015, Janocko helped aid a unit that ranked 5th in the NFL in total rushing, headlined by Adrian Peterson’s league-leading 1,485 rushing yards.

Janocko arrived in Minnesota after coaching QBs at Division II Mercyhurst during the 2014 season. At Mercyhurst, Janocko guided Brendan Boylan to 3 Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference West Division Offensive Player of the Week honors and a Division II National Player of the Week honor. Boylan started the season as the backup in Janocko’s quarterback group but took over the starting job in the 3rd game of the season and helped lead the Lakers to a 7-1 record as a starter. Boylan finished the season 192-of-319 (60.2 percent) for 2,952 yards, 29 TDs and 8 INTs.

From 2012-13, Janocko received his first experience coaching at the NFL level when he served as an offensive assistant with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While in Tampa Bay, Janocko was responsible for working with then-Head Coach Greg Schiano and Offensive Coordinator Mike Sullivan in coordinating practice schedules and breaking down film. In 2012, Janocko had a hands-on role with the quarterbacks and kick returners before working with WRs and KRsin 2013.

Janocko served as a graduate assistant under Schiano at Rutgers in 2011. He worked directly with the QB unit, helping true freshman signal-caller Gary Nova lead Rutgers to its best record since 2006. Other responsibilities for Janocko at Rutgers included handling the communication between center and quarterback, and opponent film breakdown.

A 3-year letter winner at Pitt, Janocko served as a backup QB and holder on special teams. Janocko spent his 1st 2 seasons as a walk-on before earning a scholarship his final 2 seasons. He was a member of the Panthers QB unit when Vikings QB Coach Scott Turner served as the team offensive assistant (2008-09) and WRs coach (2010). A 3-time member of the Big East All-Academic Team, he graduated from Pitt in 2010 with a degree in history and minor in political science.

A native of Clearfield, PA., Janocko was the starting QB at Clearfield Area High School, where his father, Tim, served as the head coach. He led the school to a pair of district championships and was a 2-time Pennsylvania Football News All-State honoree. Janocko (juh-Noe_co) was recently engaged to his fiancée Natalie and is scheduled to be married in the summer of 2017.
