During the strolling event rub elbows with current and former Vikings players while sampling food from the Twin Cities finest restaurants! The Taste of the Vikings event raises proceeds for the Vikings Children’s Fund and Second Harvest Heartland in an attempt to ensure that even more kids are fed next summer..

The Vikings Children’s Fund Summer Lunch Program was founded in 2008 with the purpose of addressing childhood hunger in Minnesota. Through coordinated efforts with Second Harvest Heartland, the program has quickly become a nationally recognized program. “What Second Harvest Heartland has done this past year with the Vikings for the Summer Food Service Program is considered a national model by our agency,” said Alan Shannon, Public Affairs director, USDA Food and Nutrition Service – Midwest Region. This past summer, Second Harvest Heartland recognized the Minnesota Vikings with a Hunger Hero Award, given to charitable partners who demonstrate an extraordinary effort to meet the unprecedented need for emergency food.
