If you like running and you like football, this weekend is a big one for you. The Vikings are set to host the Cleveland Browns at Mall of America Field for the 2013 home opener. But before the Vikings take the field, running enthusiasts have the opportunity to beat them to the punch.
As part of the NFL’s Back to Football Campaign, the Vikings are hosting their first Back to Football 5K run, which is presented by Twin Cities Orthopedics. The Vikings and the NFL encourage participants to get their kids involved as a way to support and promote the NFL’s Play60 campaign, which encourages children to be active for at least 60 minutes every day.
The Back to Football 5k run will take place this Saturday and will begin at Target Field. The route will take runners to Mall of America Field, where they will finish the race and then have the opportunity to take part in post-race festivities on the plaza and take photos on the field.
