Peterson, Gerhart Both Inactive For Vikings

Posted Dec 15, 2013

The Vikings have announced that both Adrian Peterson (foot / groin) and Toby Gerhart (hamstring) will miss today’s game against the Eagles due to injuries suffered in last week’s loss vs. the Ravens.

Matt Asiata will get his first career NFL start at running back, with rookie Joe Banyard, signed Saturday from the practice squad, will back him up.

Peterson and Gerhart both sat out practice on Wednesday and Thursday before being limited in Friday’s practice. Head Coach Leslie Frazier was impressed at the progress Peterson had made from his sprained foot as the week went on but both Peterson and Frazier cautioned that improvement was still needed over the course of the weekend in order for Peterson to be in the lineup on Sunday.

The Vikings will also be down their top three corners as Josh Robinson (chest) was placed on injured reserve on Saturday, while both Xavier Rhodes (ankle) and Chris Cook, who was a late add to the injury report on Friday with a knee injury, are both inactive.

Here is the full list of the Vikings’ inactives:

RB Adrian Peterson

QB Josh Freeman
CB Chris Cook

Here are Philadelphia's inactives:
