Freeman Suffering From Concussion, "More Than Likely" Ponder Starts Sunday

Head Coach Leslie Frazier led off his Wednesday news conference by announcing that QB Josh Freeman suffered a concussion during last Monday’s loss to the Giants, making his status for this Sunday’s game vs. the Packers in doubt and putting Christian Ponder in line to be Sunday's starting quarterback.

Frazier said that Freeman will have to pass the league-mandated tests and will be evaluated daily as the week goes on, and that it's "more than likely" that Ponder will start.

“We’ll have to proceed as if he’s [Freeman] not going to make it,” said Frazier, pointing to the short week the team has coming off a Monday night game and also the lack of time Freeman has had with the team. "We need to get Christian ready to go."

Freeman struggled during his debut as a Viking, completing 20 of 52 passes for 190 yards and one interception.
