U.S. Senator Klobuchar Visits Vikings Training Camp

Posted Jul 31, 2009

The Vikings held their first 2 practices of 2009 training camp on Friday, hosting a larger-than-usual media contingent and also a crowd that packed the bleachers and standing areas around the practice fields.

Aside from a passionate throng of fans that showed up on Friday, the Vikings were also pleased to host a special guest – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar made the trek to Mankato and was accompanied by her father.

Senator Klobuchar visited Vikings training camp to chat with Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf and also to greet Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress and wish him luck on the season.

Klobuchar’s father is the author of a book titled Will the Vikings Ever Win the Super Bowl? When President Barak Obama, a Chicago Bears fan, invited Senator Klobuchar to the White House for a Super Bowl party, Klobuchar brought him a copy of the book.

Senator Klobuchar also mentioned that the Brett Favre drama even found its way to the national political scene, where Klobuchar and her fellow Minnesotans were participating in a good-natured back-and-forth with their Wisconsin colleagues.

But ultimately Senator Klobuchar said she was excited with what the Vikings had in camp.

“That was an interesting chapter,” Klobuchar said about the Favre situation, “but what we have here is our real team and they’re looking very good.”
