Zimmer: Sam Bradford Out Vs. Lions

Posted Sep 28, 2017

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer on Thursday announced that Sam Bradford will be out against the Lions this Sunday.

It will be the third straight game that Bradford will be sidelined because of a knee injury.

The quarterback didn’t practice Thursday for a second straight day.

“He’s feeling better. He’s just not ready to play,” Zimmer said during his weekly less formal session with beat writers. “It’s only been five days since he went down and saw the doctor.”

Zimmer said “correct” when asked if there’s still no surgery needed for Bradford and said the eight-year pro is still “day-to-day.”

“I don’t know what day-to-day is,” Zimmer said. “He’s day-to-day.”

Case Keenum will start for the third straight week. He has gone 1-1 in Bradford’s absence.

The Vikings lost on the road in Week 2 at Pittsburgh but bounced back last Sunday against Tampa Bay.

Keenum passed for a career-high 369 yards and tied his career-best with three touchdown passes for a passer rating of 142.1 against the Bucs.
