Winter Park Rewind: October 7 - 11

vikings.com looks back on the (short) week what was at Winter Park via the "Winter Park Rewind."

October 7

Things calmed down at Winter Park after the victory over the Steelers thanks to the bye week, but by Monday morning things ramped up in a big way due to the club's acqusition of former Bucs QB Josh Freeman.  Leslie Frazier confirmed the signing during his post-practice press conference which you can watch here:

Later in the day Freeman arrived at Winter Park, and Mike Wobschall went 1-on-1 with him from the Xfinity Studios.

NFL Network sent us a few videos regarding Freeman as well.

Frazier confirmed on this day that either Christian Ponder or Matt Cassel, and not Freeman, will start Sunday vs. Carolina.

Outside of the Freeman move, other topics on this day included the Monday Morning Mailbag, a look at Adrian Peterson's 2013 pace, and a look ahead at the Vikings' next four games on the schedule.

October 8

Wobschall provided his take on why the Freeman signing is a good fit for both he and the Vikings.

The AP sent us a story outlining eight details you need to know regarding last week's agreement between the MSFA and the Vikings regarding the new stadium.

Head around the NFC North to see what's going on with the other three teams in the division.

Minnesota was selected as one of three finalists -- along with Indianapolis and New Orleans -- for Super Bowl 52 in February 2018.

October 9

Wobschall started the day off with five key storylines to watch heading into Sunday's game vs. Carolina. We also posted our general game preview of Sunday's game here.

Leslie Frazier announced at this press conference that DE Brian Robison had signed a contract extension.  Read about that here and watch Frazier's presser below.

Chad Greenway joined NFL Network's "NFL AM' to talk about the Freeman addition and more.

October 10

Speaking of the AP, their game preview story for Sunday focuses on the quarterbacks for both teams being in the spotlight.

Wobschall posted a notebook column that touches on severl topics, including the need for the Vikings to defense the read-option this Sunday. Wobschall also took a deeper look at Jared Allen's impressive career numbers.

Another AP story was sent our way, this one from Charlotte with members of the Panthers talking about their focus being on stopping Adrian Peterson, not who the Vikings run out at quarterback.

This week's Pick 6 Video Mailbag hits on what else but Freeman and what his future holds.

NFL Network had the Pioneer Press' Sean Jensen on to talk about the Vikings quarterback situation.

The three Vikings coordinators addressed the media after the team's morning walk-thru, and you can watch those videos here.

Jared Allen talked about the need for the team's defense to be more consistent prior to Thursday's practice.

NFL Films sent us their weekly game preview as well.

October 11

This day became a whole lot newsier than most every other Friday due to the tragic death of Adrian Peterson's 2-year-old son in South Dakota.

Moving on to much less important things relating to football, Head Coach Leslie Frazier confirmed that Matt Cassel and not Christian Ponder will start this Sunday vs. Carolina.

We posted two of the segments from this Sunday's "Vikings GamePlan."

Both teams issued their final injury reports, which included the note that Blair Walsh (left hamstring) will be questionable for Sunday's game.  Wobschall also gave his perspective on what the Vikings coordinators had to say on Thursday.
