Winter Park Rewind: June 17-20

Posted Jun 21, 2013

vikings.com looks back on the week what was at Winter Park via a new feature appropriately titled "Winter Park Rewind."

June, 17

As always, the week kicked off with Mike Wobschall’s Monday Morning Mailbag, where he hit on a variety of topics including where Sharrif Floyd will fit in during his rookie campaign.

We also posted an exclusive behind-the-scenes teaser of the making of the 2013-14 MVC Swimsuit Calendar.  Next week we’ll have the full video and pictures, so check back then.

The team started its three-day minicamp on this day.  Wobschall previewed the week ahead here.

Pro Bowl LB Chad Greenway joined NFL Network’s “NFL AM” to hit on several subjects including whether or not the Vikings can make it back to the playoffs in 2013.

Wobschall went into detail about some of Greenway’s comments about Christian Ponder via this blog entry.

Prior to practice, Blair Walsh gave us an amazing Tweet / Vine that showcases Jeff Locke’s holding skills which you can watch here.

Post-practice, Wobschall recapped the day via a ‘quick takes’ blog entry.

Leslie Frazier addressed the media after the team’s first of three practices during the week.  Watch the full video below or read the transcript here.

On this day, Greg Childs briefly got back into the mix with his fellow wide receivers as he continues to recover from last summer’s knee injuries.  We talked with him in this video which also shows highlights from his day.

We also posted a slow-mo video highlighting the day that was.

NFL Network sent us four videos on this day as well: a non-mini-camp video on the most underrated and overrated Vikings of all-time, a look whether the Vikings or the Bears are a bigger threat to the Packers in the NFC North, a sit-down with Jared Allen and a general report on the on-going mini-camp.

After practice, Wobschall gave Twitter-sized player evaluations for Vikings QBs and WRs.  Check that out here.

The three Vikings coordinators addressed the media after practice.  Click their names to read the transcripts, or watch the full videos below.  MusgraveWilliamsPriefer.

The Associated Press sent us an article looking at Adrian Peterson’s 2013 summer versus what he was going through a year go.

Back to videos, Wobschall caught up with former Golden Gopher and NBA hopeful Trevor Mbakwe, along with the voice of the Vikings, Paul Allen, on day two of mini-camp.

Writers from both ESPN.com and CBSSports.com were at mini-camp on this day, so we talked with both ESPN NFC North blogger Kevin Seifert and CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco on their impressions of the Vikings.

We posted another NFL Network video early in the day showing their Michelle Beisner golfing with Greg Jennings at his celebrity golf event.

We also posted a pair of videos we recorded on Wednesday featuring highlights and interviews with both Chris Cook and Kevin Williams.

Wobschall wrote a piece on three players – Ponder, Locke and Xavier Rhodes – and what the three Vikings coordinators said about them the previous day.

Leslie Frazier held his final press conference before training camp after this practice.  As usual, read the transcript here and watch the full video below.

We posted another NFL Network piece on Jennings, with this being an interview they conducted after practice.

Brian Robison got his dance on after beating Everson Griffen in a race to a tackling dummy during practice.

Finally, we posted exclusive footage of Frazier addressing the team before Jennings broke the team down in this final practice before strapping the pads on in Mankato.

Wobschall took a look at what the Vikings will be able to do with Rhodes and Cook, two big, physical corners, playing prominent roles in the team’s secondary.

What’s Next?

Our coverage of mini-camp will bleed into next week.  During practices this past week, we mounted helmet cams on both Harrison Smith and Joe Webb in addition to wiring them for sound.  Both pieces should be huge hits so check back next week for those.  You can view a preview of the Smith piece here:
